June 11, 2004 Dear Friends, It was great seeing you all again in DC during the June 4th Memorial activities and protests. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for your support and care during my hunger strike with Yang Jianli's family in front of the Chinese Embassy. The urgency to end the Chinese Communist dictatorship has never struck me greater than now. As I said at the National Press Club, I am ashamed that we should have allowed the Chinese Communist dictatorship to continue its brutality to the basic human rights of the Chinese people and to basic justice in China, and to allow the Chinese Communist government to continue to imprison dissidents like our dear friend Yang Jianli, Wang Bingzhang and others. We are no longer young students aspiring for freedom and democracy back in 1989. We are grown ups and mature dissidents. We must come up with ways to end the Chinese Communist's one party dictatorship in China, and to correct the wrongs done in China. The only way we can achieve that goal is to unite among ourselves and work together. I look forward to working with you in the future in our endeavor for democracy and human rights in China. I am still in the Washington DC area and will return to California soon. Please keep in touch! Best regards, Arthur Liu -------------------------- |
