Letter from Aaron Yang's school principal, teachers, parents to Condoleeza RiceCarol Schraft etc. December 22, 2004
The Honorable Condoleeza Rice Dear Dr. Rice: This letter is written on behalf of Dr. Yang Jianli, the Pro-Democracy activist who has been detained in China since April 2002. We are concerned neighbors and friends of the Yang family and greatly appreciate your ongoing efforts in calling for his release. As you may know, Dr. Yang suffered a stroke in July 2004. Since then he has failed to recover due to lack of adequate medical care. When some members of his family were allowed their first visit two weeks ago, they learned that Dr. Yang continues to suffer from significant numbness on his left side. Dr. Yang's wife, Christina is more worried now than ever and hopes that the People's Republic of China will grant her husband a medical parole. Jianli and Christina have two young children, Aaron and Anita who are also deeply upset by their father's absence and tenuous situation. The community in Brookline would like to help reunion Dr. Yang's family and see him safely home where he can receive vital medical treatment. As a community, we are awed by his wife Christina's tireless efforts and diligence in trying to bring her husband home to their family. We sincerely appreciate your continued attention to Dr. Yang's case and feel that your concern for his well-bring is invaluable. Thank you for all you have done and all you intend to do on the Yang family's behalf. Sincerely,
Friends of the Yang family -------------------------- |
