Message from Christina Fu to supportersChristina Fu May 28, 2004 Dear Friends, Attached is an English translation of my husband’s explanation for not appealing the verdict in his case. For a change, this is an opportunity for you to hear him speak for himself. As we understand all along, his case is not going to be resolved legally, but politically. And any reform in the criminal justice system in China, in the end, requires political reform, which I believe is what Jianli is trying to push for and what we have been praying for. Though my husband is yet home today, I take some comfort that at least there is an upper limit and it is clear now what I can hope for. I remain very grateful for the tremendous care and support you have given me and all the intensive work you have done on my husband’s behalf in the past two years, without it things could be SO MUCH worse… Moreover, I know that your efforts will continue. I would appreciate very much if all of us supporters do two things right now: 1) Write a post card (postage of 23c) to your Senators and Congressmen to update them about Jianli and to thank them for their tireless efforts, especially for their overwhelming support in the Senate/House resolutions and the numerous appeals to the U.S. and Chinese governments for Jianli’s release; 2) Call the White House comment line at 202-456-1111 or 202-456-1414 to ask for the administration’s ongoing support and continuing intervention for Jianli’s early release. Thank you very much again for being with me all this time. Your whole hearted support is felt and cherished by me everyday. Let’s continue praying for the Chinese leadership. Let’s also pray that a spirit of hope comes upon Jianli, and he is strong to look beyond the hardship of today and look forward to the freedom of tomorrow.
With gratitude and love to you all, Christina
