At this Thanksgiving eve, I wish to extend my sincere thanks to all of you for your continuing concerns and support for my husband Dr. Yang Jianli. This is the third holiday for which our family missed him at home. However, God’s boundless mercy sustains us every day and enables us to overcome any difficulties.

I would also like to give you a bit of good news. Three weeks ago, Jianli¡¯s brother Jianjun from Shandong province visited Jianli in prison. This is the first time that our family member saw Jianli since his detention two and half years ago. Without a formal notification for such visit, Jianjun simply showed up in the prison and made the request. To his surprise, and in fact, to the surprise of all of us, Jianjun was allowed to see Jianli that day. When Jianli was escorted by police to the meeting room, he showed great surprise and joy to see his brother. Although they had to speak by phone and with a big glass separating them, it was a great relief to me that Jianli looked to be in good health. Many times, Jianli wanted to cry, but was able to control his emotion. He expressed deep gratitude and love for his family and friends.

On Jianli’s behalf, let me thank you again. To all of our dear friends near and far, thank you for everything you have done for Jianli. Your letters/phone calls to President Bush and to your Congressmen, your appeals to Chinese leaders, and your postcards to Jianli ...etc. are all so helpful and precious and greatly appreciated.

Please continue to keep Jianli in your thoughts. Please continue to pray for the Chinese leaders. Thank you very much! God bless!
