The U.N. to decide whether it will introduce a resolution on human rights issues in China

He Haiying

Dear friends,

First of all, please bare with me for this long email(Chinese is in the back).

As you know, the coming 2 weeks is going to be important if UN will pass the China resolution or not. Yet, the text of U.S. resolution has not come though it's been announced. During past 10 years, all the similar efforts have not concluded in a success. However, things have been changing somehow and together we may make it happen this time. Just during last couple weeks, many people have been arrested for their standing out for the basic rights they deserve. some recent examples are 3 Tiananmen mother and several Falun Gong practitioners (family members of some friends in U.S. and Canada)., At the same time, it's time to get back HR for Chinese people, more and more people stand out to speak the truth-- like Mr. Du Daobing, Mr.JiangYany, Mr. Lu Jiaping, Mr. Yu Jie, Mr. Liu Xiaobo,Yang Yingbo, Mr. Zheng Yichun and Mr. Dong Hai Yi Xiao... ...; We also have heroes like Mr. Wang Bingzhang, Mr. Yang Jianli and Mr. Charles Li ...... who risk their life fight for Chinese people; we have Mr. Liu Chengjun, Ms. Cheng Zixiu, Mr. Yuan Jiang, Mr. Wang Zhiwen and Mr. Ji Liewu ... ... hundreds of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners who are using their lives to open a new era of safeguarding HR in China. We have hundreds of thousands of overseas hard thinking, hard working dissidents and international friends and ORGs. We are working closer and more together to help people in mainland China to understand and safeguard their rights from all directions. It's a critical time now for helping HR improvement in China. Talked with some friends briefly on the list, we would take further actions to encourage UN to pass a China resolution. Three things has been suggested, please share your thoughts:

1. Having various rallies world wide to urge UN pass such a resolution. Say, in U.S., we can have in Washington DC and NYC in front UN at least. The theme: To Urge UN and all democratic governments to step further pass a China resolution, help stop persecution/human rights abuse in China. Since it's a pure human right event, we can invite all the organizations and individuals to join us in the rally. Every organization is encouraged to step out to have a several minutes speech from your aspect. Every organization is encourage to have an enlarged logo of your ORGs or slogan of yours to the rally. It's time to speak out louder for HR in China. Since UN decision might be made right after Easter long weekend, DC may have a rally on April 6, and NYC need to be decided, maybe on April 8. We'll discuss with friends in NY area.

2. Revise our NGO resolution to a more generic one to announce to the world (not just delivered to UN & relevant countries), no matter UN will eventually pass a resolution for this year or not, we'll show billion of Chinese people our love and support. In doing so, we need to continuously expand our current letter campaign effort to invite NGOs and individuals world wide to co-sign the resolution on line, just like sign on against article 23 last year. In doing so, we can share the load of UN, continue to encourage UN doing a better job on helping HR in China, show the world the courage and responsibility of ours as NGOs who cares Chinese people and people in the world, and encourage UN and the righteous people in the world.

3. Forming a loose alliance world wide initiated by 54 NGOs who have sign on our NGO resolution and appeal letter, to oppose persecution/human rights abuse in China, setting up a website as a common platform for all organizations who concern about human rights in China and who want to help. Say we can name this alliance/website as "Alliance to Oppose Persecution in China(a-topic)" . We have invited several volunteers (experts) working on this site. On this site, we can : A) expose the relevant persecution against all group of people in China; B) post your articles/opinion/suggestions/comments/ideas on how to change and improve HR in China. C) We can have all the organizations take turn to compose a bi-weekly/monthly electronic magazine / news letter. This site/alliance would serve as a platform/forum for organizations' sharing and uniting, and also a window for the world to understand us--various NGOs world wide, to support our efforts on fighting for HR and opposing persecution in China. This is just some idea for long term co-effort for HR in China,"throw a brick for your jade " :) . For working more formally, we may even use the name of a-topic to have rallies immediately.

Please share your idea/suggestions/comments/objections on these matters, and please help to initiate the rallies world wide. Thanks very much for your initiating, supporting and cooperation.
