We are pleased to let you know that with Prime Minister Wen Jiabao of China arriving in the United States on Sunday, that he will likely become quite familiar with Dr. Yang Jianli's case.

First, a bipartisan group of 8 United States Senators (Allen, Brownback, Kerry, Kennedy, Kyl, McCain, Mikulski, and Santorum) sent a letter to President George W. Bush urging him to raise Yang Jianli's case during his meeting with Prime Minister Wen on Tuesday.

Second, a bipartisan group of 32 Members of Congress led by Congressmen Chris Cox and Barney Frank and including Democratic Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, Chairman Henry Hyde (House International Relations Committee), and Ranking Member Tom Lantos (House International Relations Committee), sent a letter to Prime Minister Wen through the Chinese Embassy in Washington expressing deep concern about Dr. Yang's ongoing detention.

Both letters (Senators's letter and Representatives's letter) are attached for your reference.

Finally, all along Prime Minister Wen's route from New York to Washington to Boston, key people with whom he will be meeting have been prepared to raise Yang Jianli's case directly to him. In addition, we have had numerous positive conversations with the media and are hopeful Prime Minister Wen's visit will generate additional coverage of Yang Jianli's story.

Thank you, as always, for your ongoing support and assistance. It means the world to Dr. Yang's wife Christina and their children Aaron and Anita.

Best,

Jared Genser
