What We've Been Doing About ItAmnesty International After Jared Olen and Kim Coulombe returned from the 2002 Amnesty International Northeast Regional Conference on Saturday, 9 November, they both said to each other, "We are going to get this man home." Christine Fu spoke at the conference regarding her husband and his case. Her speech was so moving that it brought most to tears and brought all to their feet applauding. On the 30th anniversary of the Urgent Action Network, Ms. Fu asked us for our help. She said that she wished that her husband could be there to speak just like Ngawang Choephel, who had been released from China in January of 2002. Jared and Kim have brought this mission back to their Auburn, MA chapter.
"We will free Yang Jianli. It is not a matter of how, or if it is possible, it is only a matter of time. The road to change may be long, but each step brings us all closer to a better world. We are running along the road to Jianli's release; he will be home soon. We will free Dr. Jianli. I have made it my mission."
