Urgent Appeal: Ask President Bush to Speak with Chinese President Hu Jintao on Yang's CaseJianli Support Group Sept 22, 2003 Dear friends and supporters of Dr.Yang and his family, As President Bush is going to attend the APEC annual meeting to be held in Thailand next month, Christina Fu, wife of Dr. Yang Jianli, would like to implore the President to bring up her husband's case when he meets the Chinese president Hu Jintao. She would like to ask Jianli's supporters to send an appeal to the White House. A sample letter is provided here (or its Word file version is here). Since Dr. Yang's detention in April last year, he has not been allowed to meet or talk to his family members. Only under the pressures from the international community, from the government of the U.S., the Chinese government ended its lengthy investigation and brought Dr. Yang for a trial in a closed-door session. The trial ended without a verdict. Now is a critical time. We hope that President Bush will bring up this urgent human rights issue. Thank you very much for your support! Your help makes difference.
