Article 47 authorizes prison authorities to take actions including inspection and confiscation of prisoners’ incoming and outgoing mail. In May 2004, the Chinese government found Yang Jianli guilty of espionage and illegal entry into the country, sentencing him to five years imprisonment. -------------------------- |
