Local Man Returns from Chinese Prison

BROOKLINE, Mass. - August 21, 2007 - A Brookline man held in a Chinese prison for five years has been released.

US citizen and democracy activist Yang Jianli was blacklisted by the Chinese government for his involvement in the Tianamen Square student movement in the 1980s.

He was arrested on a visit to China in 2002, and imprisoned until April of this year he was only allowed by the Chinese government to come back to his family in the US this past weekend.
