This July 15 was the 40th birthday of Dr. Yang Jianli. His wife, Christina and two children, Anita and Aaron, flew to Washington D.C. from Boston in order to deliver a birthday card made by the children, who wanted to have it passed to their beloved dad via the PRC Embassy. The three of them waited outside of the Embassy from 3:00-5:00pm. The door was closed all the time. Christina spoke with someone inside through a speaker by the door, buy no one came out to accept this card.

This is the inside of the birthday card that the children made. Their hearts were broken. They could not understand why they didn't have the right to send a birthday card to their dad.


Many Chinese took pictures here when they visit Washington D.C. But for Anita and Aaron, this picture was not for a good memory. Their daddy has been jailed in Beijing for more than a year. To date, they are still unable to speak to, to hear, to write to or to receive words from him directly.
