The White House

Dear Mr. President:

I am writing to respectfully urge you to seek Dr. Yang Jianli's freedom.

The People's Republic of China detained Dr. Yang on April 26, 2002. He is a legal permanent resident of the United States and was living with his wife and two children in Brookline, MA. He is an important leader of the Chinese democracy movement and a veteran of the 1989 Tiananmen Square student movement, and has testified numerous times on Capital Hill.

We Americans who enjoy the privileges of freedom and democracy care greatly about Dr. Yang and strongly support his cause. I earnestly implore you to do everything in your power to urge the Chinese government to release Dr. Yang Jianli immediately.

Thank you for your time and concern of this important matter. I await your response.
